Clixhere's Posting Guidelines
BEFORE OPENING A NEW THREAD:Use the "search" button to search for your issue. You may find that your question has already been answered.
*Always check our FAQs / Guides section first.
If you cannot find the answer to your question through a search, then feel free to start a new thread. (Of course, you should only start ONE new thread. Please do not post the same question in multiple forums. Multiple similar posts will be considered as spamming and the account will be banned FOREVER)
When starting a thread, please observe these simple posting guidelines.
POSTING GUIDELINES:
1. Post in the appropriate forum. There is a sub-forum at clixhere.net for each type of iriver clix and relevant issues/information. Please find the right forum for your question.
Also note that the FAQ/guide forums are not the appropriate forum to post questions--use the discussion forum for your player instead.
Posting in a wrong forum will result in thread/post move or deletion, and the possibility of a warning/infraction being issued.
(Clixhere.net has a warning/infraction system that allows the moderating staff to provide warnings/infraction to those who fail to follow these posting guidelines. An warning is a way of reminding the poster of the posting guideline. An infraction however, is a form of punishment for serious posting violation and point will issued based on the seriousness of the violation. When a user reaches an infraction level of 10 (points), his or her posting privileges are revoked. An warning/infraction may be permanent or may be for a set period of time, at the discretion of the moderator issuing the warning/infraction. While the moderator staff tries to be as judicious as possible with the issuance of warnings/infraction, unfortunately, it sometimes becomes necessary to use this system to prevent abuses of clixhere.net's service.)
2. Use a descriptive thread title. Be sure to include a brief description of your issue or question in the title to your thread. This will help other users understand what you need and avoid opening threads in which they have no interest.
Examples of bad thread titles:
"Help!"
"Problem"
"What Should I Do?"
Examples of good thread titles:
"Help: Windows XP will not recognize clix2"
"Problem: clix battery life is too short"
3. Use standard English and proofread your posts. Standard English is strongly preferred at clxihere.net over text speak. TXT SPK will not be tolerated and the post will be deleted as a result.
Preferred: "Can anyone help me to load music on my player?"
Disfavored: "Can NE1 hlp me 2 load music on my playa???????"
Proofread your posts! Everyone makes the occasional typos or spelling mistakes, but please make an effort to make your post readable.
*If you need to edit your post after you submit it, or if you need to add additional information, DO NOT create a separate post. The button will allow you to edit your post.
4. Include all relevant information. If you have a question, be sure to describe your issue in detail. The more information you provide, the more likely it is that you will get a helpful response.
DO: "I cannot get Windows XP to recognize my clix. I have tried all of the USB ports on my machine, but none works. I have also tried a different USB cable. My friend's computer with XP does recognize the player. But when I plug it into my computer, the computer seems to recognize that there is a USB device attached, but Windows Media Player doesn't see it and I can't open the player in Explorer."
DON'T: "Why won't Windows recognize my player?"
5. Be respectful. Remember that clixhere.net is a community composed of people of all ages from all over the globe. Please act respectfully to others. The following behavior will not be tolerated:- Personal attacks.
- Profanity.
- Posts that say nothing but "do a search" without providing any useful information.
Remember that clixhere.net is a global community. Be tolerant of those who are from cultures other than yours, or for whom English is not a first language.
6. Limitations on signatures. Your signature is your opportunity to provide some personal information about yourself. Signatures may provide links to other sites, but should not be commercial advertisements. clixhere.net allows the use of graphics in signatures, subject to the following guidelines:- Signature graphics should be reasonable in size: 500 by 100 pixels or 15.6 KB (whichever is smaller).
- Horizontal signature size should be such that the signature does not cause your post to exceed the right edge of an 800x600 display.
- Vertical signature size should be restricted to 4 lines of text or the equivalent.
- Text in signatures should be size 1 or 2. One line of size 3 text is permitted for emphasis. Do not use text sizes larger than 3.
- If your signature contains a list, that list should not exceed the 4 line of text guideline. Horizontal lists are preferred to vertical lists.
Example:
Disfavored
My favorite links
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
Preferred:
My favorite links: Link 1, Link 2, Link 3
The content of signatures must be tasteful and comply with the standards of decency of clixhere.net.
7. Other guidelines.- Posts containing links to sites which permit illegal downloading of copyrighted material are prohibited.
- Discussion of removing digital rights management (DRM) or other copyright protection schemes is prohibited.
*If you are replying to an existing thread and want to quote several previous posts, use the Multi-Quote button located next to the Quote button at the bottom of each post. To use the the Multi-Quote function click the button for every post you want to quote, with the exception of the last post, which you click the normal button. Once you have selected a post to be quoted, the Multi-Quote button will change to . You can de-select a post by clicking this button again. After clicking the button, be sure to type your text after the [/quote] tags.
For users who don't fully understand some of the above, a quick reiteration.
The moderators and administrators have the right, in their sole discretion, (1) to remove or edit any post or thread that does not comply with these guidelines, (2) to provide warnings to the author of such posts or threads, and/or (3) to modify these guidelines. Any questions about these guidelines should be directed to the moderators or administrators.
